Probably one of the hardest commandments to obey is "Love thy neighbor as yourself". Is it because we must first forgive? How can we love or forgive someone that is so unlovable and unforgiveable?
Matthew 6:14-15 says, "If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins."
Forgiving someone can be hard because we're human, but with God's help, we can forgive anyone. How? With prayer: God, I pray that you will put forgiveness in my heart and the strength to give grace to others. God, help me to not dwell on the pain this person has caused me, but to remember that you love them ; and you sent your son to forgive ALL of our sins, not just mine. Please take away any anger that I may have for this person and replace it with love. God, I pray that you will bless this person that has hurt me. Please put love in their heart so they will not continue to hurt others. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray this prayer every night! Listen, I am not just preaching at you. I do it. It works! I know when you read in that prayer for God to bless someone that hurt you, you were probably thinking, "Yeah, right!" Trust me, the first time I tried it, it physically hurt! It was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life! But, the more I did it, the easier it became. Now, I rarely think of that person except to testify to someone how forgiveness is possible.
Trust God to lead you to a life of love.
